North Indian-------Chole

Chole is a spicy gravy dish prepared with chick peas and generally served with battura/puri.In restaurants dish Chole Bhatture is very heavy breakfast/snack item, and taste really good.Chole Batture is a speciality of  Punjabi cuisine.Also chick peas is very good source of proteins. From many days i wanted to try Chole Batture and finally last month i prepared it for evening snack.My hubby and kids loved it. Ingredients: 1 cup Chick peas(Kabuli chana) 1 onion finely chopped 3 tomatoes finely chopped 1 tsp ginger chopped 1 tsp garlic chopped  coriander leaves 3-4 green chilies 1/2 tsp turmeric powder salt sugar 1 tsp chana masala powder 1 tsp whole garam masala(bay leaves,1 cardamon,clove,black pepper,cinnamon whole or crush everything together) 1/2 tsp tea powder put it in small cheese cloth and tied to make tea bag seasoning 3 tsp oil 2 tsp cumin seeds  1 tsp butter garnishing: coriander leaves 1/4 cup finely chopped onions finely chopped tomatoes lemon juice

Pepper Kashaya

This is a home remedy for soar throat,cough and cold.You should drink this hot ,which will clear all the congestion.Also before going to bed if you drink will show the result quickly.I learned this from my Mother - in - law .whenever my husband gets cold one week he wants kashaya twice a day and eats rice and peeper rasam for lunch and dinner.I have seen this home remedy really helps to get well soon from cold.There are many types of kashaya and many ways of preparing it.Kashayas are very common drink in Coastal part of Karnataka(Mangalore region) . Ingredients: 1-2 tsp Black Pepper 1tsp coriander seeds(optional) 1 tsp cumin seeds 2 pods of clove(lavang) 1 cardamon 1 tsp dry ginger pinch of turmeric powder pinch of jaikai 1/4 of hepalli(optional) 2" jaggary water 1/4 cup milk(optional) Method: Take a frying pan put coriander seeds,cumin seeds,black pepper,cardamon,clove,hepalli and dry roast this for 3-4 minutes by stirring continuously. Rawa (Semolina/Sooji ) Rotti [Karnataka Special]

This is a very simple and easy rotti.It is similar to Akki rotti .My grandma  eat this during fasting days. usually won't come that thin like akki rotti but otherwise taste is good. Ingredients: 1 cup medium/fine  Rawa 1/2 cup curd 1/4 cup water salt 1 tsp grated ginger 2-3 green chilies chopped curry leaves 1/2 cup grated carrots 1/2 cup finely onion chopped(if made during fasting days then skip onion) coriander leaves chopped 1-2 tbsp oil  Method: Take a mixing bowl,add all the ingredients except oil and water.mix properly with hands. Knead it using little by little water.finally add 2 tsp of oil and knead properly for 3-4 minutes.keep it aside for 5 minutes. Take a plastic sheets or non sticky sheets, grease this sheet. Take one tennis ball size ball of rawa dough and tapping with hand press it into 5" round rotti on the sheet. This is a ayurvedic home medicine which is given after (post) Pregnancy.  It helps you regain your body strength,milk production,digestion,Back ache ,cold and cough .Generally these leheyams are given for 40 days,but can have till 3 months.My mom has prepared all these leheyams at home and given me for 3 months.from the day one i used and  followed strict diet,specific food and taken all these leheyam.Now a days many don't believe in these home medicines and diet but i believed in them.Actually now a days as you take Other medicine so no need for complete ayurvedic medicines,but diet and few of these leheyam if you take it will really help you throughout your life .I am not any Ayurvedic doctor,but just want to share these recipe which my mom has prepared after my  deliveries.My mom as done researched for this medicines and consult her mom and aunts for making it.I felt to share those with you all ,just a guideline if you want to use some these Leheyams.You can also refer some of t

Halwa-------Atta (Wheat Flour/ Godhi Hittina) ka Halwa

This is a very very healthy type halwa.My mom used to make this halwa after both of my delivery.they say it gives you strength which is very needed after your pregnancy as you become week.Also good for Back ache too.For this Halwa lot of ghee and meva(dry fruits )are needed .You can make this halwa for kids too.generally kids like .Overall it taste very good and very easy to make. Ingredients: 1 cup Wheat Flour(Atta) 1/2- 3/4 cup jaggary or sugar(jaggary is better) 1/2 cup ghee 1 tsp cardamon powder 1/2 cup mixed dry fruits like raisins,cashews,almond pieces,pista pieces,dates,walnuts etc 1/4 cup milk(optional) 1/2 cup water Method: Take a heavy bottom pan ,add 1 ts ghee ,raisins and cashews.fry this till cashews turns red and raisins fluffs out and keep it aside.Remove skin of almonds and pista and make slice of them.make small pieces of dates,walnuts etc. Now in the same pan add 1 tbsp more of ghee and put atta in that.Roast this wheat flour on medium flame till nice a

Gulab Jamun Using Jamun Mix

You must be wondering why i am posting this recipe as anybody can make gulab jamun using Jamun Mix.But earlier when i started making jamuns somehow it never used come perfect.then one day my friend sonali showed me some tips and then i made so many times it always come good.so i thought  why not share those tips with you all too.i will definitely try jamun without Mix and post that recipe in future. Jamun is the most favourite in my family,its a tradition to prepare jamun on birthdays in my family,because from my husband to both my kids when you ask them what they want for their birthday they will ask for Jamun.You can choose any brand name jamun mix but i prefer Gits one.
